The YCPA executives gathered at Spa West Brome for the teambuilding workshop for a weekend. The purpose of the teambuilding was to strengthen the executive team in order to achieve YCPA short and long term projects for the following years. At the end of the meetings, we expect every participant to clearly identify his own goals and strategies according to YCPA’s vision, mission, and structure.
The teambuilding was facilitated by Kelvin Mo, VP, and Christine Law, executive secretary.
Day 1
We started with a presentation of the Harvard Management Mentor program. The executives were then divided into 3 teams; and three to four topics were assigned to each team to and asked to find out how YCPA can benefit from the Harvard’s insights. At the end, every team presented their findings related to their topics and gave recommendations for YCPA.
After dinner, Me. Ponora Ang, VP, led a workshop on Public Speaking and Presentation. As a successful lawyer with a promising career at McMillan, he had boiled down to three crucial area professionals need to work on in order to be convincing and influential in their presentations. Then, Me. Ang insisted the executives to apply the techniques and to convince the audience that the prince in “Cinderella” is actually from the dark side – mission accomplished with much creativity and humour.
After a brief coffee break, Kelvin presented the SWOT analysis, followed with a group brainstorming session to find out what are the strengths, the weaknesses, the opportunities and the threats of YCPA. The executives were then split in two teams to determine strategies. At the end, both team presented their strategies, which will be used to finalize the YCPA’s 2010 business plan.
Day 2
Facilitated by Dr. Kenneth Tran, president, the YCPA team refined the strategies into workable goals, with a timeline and people in charge. The YCPA’s 2010 business plan was therefore completed within a weekend of efficient teamwork. Before departing from the meeting board, the team revised the interviews filmed during the Orchid Ball, animated by Menglai Shang, Marketing Director, and realized by Kheng Huynh, Project Manager. The teambuilding ended in the remembrance of our success! Tomorrow will be better yet!
