I was involved in the Young Chinese Professional Association (YCPA) from 2006 to 2008, as "Director of Business and Entrepreneurship". In April 2007, we organized a "Job Strategies" Networking Cocktail. The objective was to bring together YCPA members and selected companies that seek to integrate young Asian professionals and graduates into their workforce. For the event, I invited representatives from Future Electronics, whom I knew was involved in international business. The YCPA event gave us a chance to meet in an informal setting. Shortly after, I was invited for an interview and offered a job as part of a program to train and then relocate to Asia. My involvement in YCPA gave me the opportunity to meet my future employer and also to grow cross-cultural and business skills that are useful to me now in my job in Singapore.
