On July 31, a team building event for the executive directors of YCPA has prepared the Association, which is currently in full swing, in a position to reach the next level. During the full day event, the team explored a variety of topics regarding the spirit of YCPA as well as the activities that YCPA organizes.
Since its inception, the mission of YCPA has been evolving continuously to adapt to the needs of its members and community. Following the common reflection of its current president Ponora Ang and the executives of the board, YCPA presently envisions the following:
- to promote Chinese and Asian cultures in Montreal and in Quebec as a whole;
- to provide its members professional and personalized support and assistance;
- to play an intermediary role and to create a bridge linking the Canadian and Chinese business worlds.
To achieve its objective, YCPA would not only count on the support of its members, but equally on the works of its united team of dedicated executives, in which each one of us invests in the performance of their obligations and responsibilities. It is important to emphasize the energy and passion that the president himself brings to his work: he is the backbone of the team and his leadership have transpired throughout on the day of teambuilding.
It is essential to define the success that YCPA has been recognized for in 2011. Firstly, the Orchid Ball on le Belvü, a highly anticipated event in the business world with more than 300 guests from various professional backgrounds, was a success that lived up to people's expectations. In addition, the value of the Honorary Presidents was an indication of the recognition of the YCPA trademark, defined as an award-winning association that is sought after and recognized by other professional associations in Quebec. Finally, these successes have helped YPCA to enjoy increased visibility with the new coverage.
A renewed vision of YCPA and a complete overhaul of the role of executives emerged from the day of reflection and debate. The executives discussed in groups, and the entire team came to conclusions that, in addition to ensuring the sustainability of the Association, the team will also enhance the quality of its services. While targeting customers it serves, the Association and its executives are ambassadors who answer to the needs of its members. All executives agreed on the need to be open and transparent. YCPA is devoted to the recognition of its members, on a personal, professional, as well as a cultural level; to act professionally, and to give a breath of fresh air in the landscape of Chinese and Asian community as a whole.
During this day of teambuilding, the executives also had a chance to reflect on their own path. They received two presentations on professional development. The first had to do with self-promotion in the workplace. This presentation by Ponora allowed executives to do some soul searching regarding how they plan their professional image. The second presentation focused on issues of entrepreneurship. Leonard Xu (VP Internal) outlined the challenges and difficulties faced by startup enterprises. The two enriching presentations allowed executives to better understand the needs of members, and to better serve them for years to come.
The day of July 31 was a productive day that will be beneficial to YCPA and to the image that YCPA aspires to maintain in the future. Indeed, like its members, the executives have taken the development of YCPA to heart and hope to forge the image of an association marked by the excellence, professionalism and dedication as well as the rise and recognition of the Chinese and Asian communities.
